Messy Church
Unfortunately due to Covid-19 restrictions Messy Church is currently suspended, however please have a read at the information below. We do hope you will want to join us once we are able to restart.
Messy Church has been running since October 2010 in the Parish Church, and since 2013 at St. Andrew’s. Popular with our young families (and grandparents too), it has a relaxed style with little formality which appeals to folk with young children who enjoy the freedom to move around. We also have a number of teenagers who come along to take part and to help out.
Messy Church usually takes place monthly – alternating between a Sunday in the Parish Church and a Saturday in the Southmuir Hall. The activities at both are similar. The food craft is always hugely popular, as are all the other crafts and challenges. Sometimes we have group activities like making Joseph’s Technicolor coat and the father’s house from the prodigal son. We have explored various Bible passages, characters and themes. In the Parish Church we have a baby corner, a toddler table, and a puzzle table.
We would love it if any of you would like to come and join us when we are able to resume. There’s always teas, coffees, cakes and biscuits. We would love to welcome more people. Perhaps there is someone you know who may like to come along with their children, so please spread the word – we are sure that they will love church the Messy way!
Feedback
We get great feedback about Messy Church from the folk who attend on the day. Here are some of the lovely and encouraging comments we have had:
“Our visit to your Messy Church was very useful, Linda, and we were able to use a lot of your ideas. You seem to have found a formula that worked really well.” (from a visiting church)
“We all had a fantastic time my daughter was still dancing after the singing was finished. We will definitely be doing our best to come and join the fun in the future. What a fantastic way to involve families.” (from a Mum)
“We all had a lovely time with you yesterday and were impressed and encouraged at what we saw.” – (from another visiting Church.)
